  • The contest requires three judges that will judge all sections of the contest.

  • You shall wear appropriate western attire, complete with hat and boots for both the speaking and horsemanship trials.   Your horse shall be clean and in good health.  Equipment shall be clean and in good repair.

  • There are three sections to this contest:  Modeling, Speech & Personality, and Horsemanship.

  • The modeling will require you to put together a western outfit of your choice, write a short detailed description of it and choose music that you walk to while modeling, all of which should not take more than 2 minutes.

  • You will be required to give a 2-3 minute speech.  The Speech & Personality division will be judged on poise, ability to project oneself, voice expressiveness, and appearance, knowledge of rodeo and current events.  Appearance includes overall attractiveness, grooming, posture and current trends and styles.  Rodeo/Horse knowledge includes Gold Dust Rodeo.  You will be asked impromptu questions about any or all of the topics.  A pre-contest meeting will be held with the date to be confirmed later.

  • Horsemanship will be judged on your control of the horse at all times.  You will be allowed to bring only one horse for the entire contest.  Remember we are looking for a cowgirl, not a western pleasure showman.  The judges are evaluating you, not your horse.

  • Application deadline:  Applications must be postmarked by April 5, 2008.
